Andrew Dzwonchyk, age 92 of Shelton, beloved husband of 57 years to the late Irene Fogarty Dzwonchyk, passed away May 8, 2016 at his daughter's home surrounded by his loving family. Andrew was born in Derby, October 1, 1923, son of the late Nikita and Helen Fifer Dzwonchyk and was a lifelong Shelton resident. Andrew was a U.S. Naval Veteran serving as a Russian interpreter on a minesweeper in the Philippines during WWII. He also worked as a manager for the former Rapp's Paradise Inn of Ansonia for 25 years. He is survived by his daughters, Dorine Del Po (Paul) of Naugatuck, and Joann Schaeffer of Shelton; grandchildren, James Dzwonchyk (Courtney) of Colchester, Paul Del Po (Gayle) of Naugatuck, Todd Del Po (Ilisa) of Orange, Nicholas, Robert, Andrew (Amy), and Joseph Dzwonchyk of Jonestown, PA, and Autumn Krouse (Christian) of Lebanon, PA; 14 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, he was predeceased by his sons, Andrew and James Dzwonchyk; his brothers, Stephen and Joseph Dzwonchyk; and his sister Julia Schaeffer. At Andrew's request, there will be no calling hours. Friends and relatives are invited to go DIRECTLY to St. Joseph Church, Shelton for a Mass of Christian Burial Thursday at 10:30 AM. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow at Mt. St. Peter's Cemetery, Derby.
