Robert J. Hurd

Robert James Hurd, age 63 of New Haven, passed away March 7, 2018 at Yale New Haven Hospital. Robert was born in Bridgeport, June 1, 1954, son of Deloris (Steinke) Hurd of Milford and the late Donald Robert Hurd. Robert (Bobby) graduated from Trumbull High School (1972), attended Southern CT State College and earned a BS degree from Eastern Montana College. Robert won many awards and achieved recognition in the field of Science, History, Arts and sports (hockey & football) throughout his life. He pursued a career in Culinary Arts and lived in Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Montana and recently New Haven. He was currently working as a customer service representative at Liberty Tax Service. He was a loving son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend.  Robert is survived by his mother, Deloris Steinke Hurd of Milford, his sisters Barbara Hurd Eberstadt of Naugatuck, Susan Schoultz and her husband Scott of Colorado, and Robin Hurd of Litchfield, sister Carol Goslee of Bantam, brother Donald Hurd of Montana, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Donald R. Hurd and his nephew Rudolph Eberstadt, IV.  Calling hours will be held Sunday, March 18th from 3 PM to 5 PM at the James T. Toohey & Son Funeral Home, 92 Howe Ave., Shelton. A funeral service will be held at 4:30 PM.
