David S. Pivola, age 64 of Shelton, passed away July 23, 2023 at Griffin Hospital of an unexpected illness.  David was born in Shelton, October 19, 1958, son of the late Daniel Sr. and Doris Rollinson Pivola.

David S. Pivola made his home with his brother, Daniel Jr., in their childhood home along with his namesake and beloved nephew, David J. Pivola (April).

David was co-owner and contractor of a multi-generational construction business, Dan and Dave Construction Company, Inc., which was started in the 1970’s by his father, Daniel, Sr., and has continued to evolve and become Dan and Dave Septic and Landscaping, LLC.  In keeping with family tradition David J. Pivola will embrace the legacy and perpetuate the values of the company for future generations.

David S. Pivola attended Shelton Public schools.  He took pride in driving school buses for the Laidlaw Bus Company.  He also participated in many seminars and workshops at Yale Divinity School with his mother, Doris, in the early 1970’s.

He was a life-long member of the Shelton Methodist Church where he served as a Trustee and usher while working tirelessly on many committees to better the parish.

David Samuel was highly intelligent with confirmed testing IQ Scores that placed him in the top 2% of intellectual ability and qualified him for membership in Mensa.  With his level of intellectual diversity and physical talents, he was able to create exquisite designs out of wood in his spare time for family and friends.

Another strength he displayed and shared with family, friends and customers was his philosophical and effortless sense of humor and outlook on life.

David was loved and known as “Uncle” by many close friends and extended family members.  He will be missed.

Besides his brother, Daniel Jr. and nephew David J., he is also survived by two sisters, Dr. Darlisa Pivola Ritter and Doreen Pivola Pysz (John).

He was predeceased by his parents, Daniel Sr. and Doris Emma Rollinson Pivola, a sister, Dale Ann Pivola Eldridge, a sister-in-law Dawn Pivola, and a brother-in-law Daniel C. Ritter.
