Joseph A. Kopasz

Joseph A. Kopasz, age 94, beloved husband of 71 years to Mary Manzone Kopasz, passed away November 20, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family.  Joseph was born in Derby, July 24, 1927, son of the late Julius and Anna Magyar Kopasz and was a lifelong resident of Shelton.  He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and later worked as a machinist for Avco Lycoming for many years until his retirement.  He was a communicant of St. Joseph Church of Shelton and was an avid gardener and handyman who could fix anything.  He was very proud husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle.  Besides his wife Mary, he is survived by his children Andrew Kopasz (Denise), and Carol Konwerski (Jim), his grandchildren Brian Konwerski, Michael Konwerski (Amanda), Jennifer Golden, and Nicholas Kopasz, his great-grandchildren Noah, Jackson, and Myles Golden, and Henry Konwerski, and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his brothers Julius, John, Ernest, and Zoltan Kopasz, his sister Margaret Maker, and his nephew Robert Kopasz.  Calling hours will be held Monday from 4pm to 7pm at the James T. Toohey & Son Funeral Home, 92 Howe Ave., Shelton.  On Tuesday, everyone is invited to go directly to St. Joseph Church, 424 Coram Ave., Shelton for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am.  Interment with Full Military Honors will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Shelton.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Church or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
