Laura E. Markut

Laura E. Markut, age 97, of Shelton, CT passed away on June 23, 2026 surrounded by her family.  She was born in Shelton on December 13, 1928, to the late Frank and Eva Kutyla Markut and was a lifelong parishioner of St. Michael’s Church, Derby CT. Laura was a veteran of the U.S. Navy where she was a Registered Nurse and later employed at Laurel Heights until her retirement.

She is survived by her niece Joan Matula (Charles), and their daughter’s Allison Matula (Keith Hmelovsky), Alicia Matula and her daughter, Avianna Matula as well as many nieces and nephews. Her funeral service will be private, but all are invited to attend her Catholic mass at St. Michaels Church, 75 Derby Ave, Derby CT with burial to follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Derby CT.
